I enjoy working with seniors and helping them solve their financial problems with reverse mortgages.  In the last three years the number of reverse mortgages nationwide has almost tripled.  Seniors are recognizing the value of tapping into their home equity for such things as: paying off a remaining conventional mortgage balance, providing funds to remodel, increasing income to remain at home, buying a new car, or paying for long term care. 

The fear of reverse mortgages is being dispelled and people are recognizing their value; however, there are some in the community who are using reverse mortgages to take advantage of seniors and use the money for purposes that don't benefit senior citizens.  I am careful to recommend reverse mortgages for the purposes for which they were intended.
